AN OLD WIVE'S TALE

I am one of those superstitious kinda girls. I believe that stepping on a crack will break my mothers back.  The number thirteen is bad luck. If you kill a spider, it will rain. If the cows are laying down, it will rain. And I believe my mother-in-law has some sort of super powers. Yes, I will explain. And it's pretty simply really.  Mom is almost as superstitious as me and is queen of Old Wive's Tales.

On the last Sunday of every month, my mother-in-law and her sisters all get together for an afternoon of kicking back and spending time together.  Recently they started asking more of us gals to join in (daughters, daughters-in-law, granddaughters, etc).  Even more recent the family is expecting another bundle of joy to grace us in November as cousin Hilary is expecting her first!  This is where the Old Wive's Tale comes into the story:)

Yes, it's the Needle Trick!  When I was pregnant with my son, Mom held a needle by a thread over my open palm and we all held our breath as we waited for the needle to swing in circles for a girl or back and forth for a boy.  It started with a small circle (my miscarriage before Makayla), then stopped before performing a large circle (Makayla), then stopped again before swinging back and forth (Colby).  Amazing.  Last weekend, we just knew we had to try it out on Hilary!

The results? Well, Mom has only ever been wrong once....and according to her and her superpowers there will be a bouncing baby boy to be thankful for this November <3
